OverviewI looked back to my distant 40+ year Lifetime of Activism - for naught. I had once, long ago, always tried to use my experience, skills, and passion to help level the playing field, impact, inspire & empower future generations. I had always looked for positive ways to contribute. I credited my parents for instilling in me a drive for fairness, a love of all people, compassion, and creativity to pursue and attempt fulfilling that endeavor. I wrote this many years ago and believe this even more so in today's dismal and dark days of hate and fear. ""My father, Teamster, civil rights & political leader Bill Nuchow worked with Dr. King and was in Memphis with the sanitation workers at the time of his death. I was nine years old when my father took me and my sister Laura Jane Nuchow Vural on the freedom train from New York to Washington, D.C. to hear Dr. King deliver ""I Have a Dream"" declaration amidst a sea of humanity rich in the spirit of hope, mutual respect, and unity. So much of that is needed today."" Unfortunately, I no longer have the energy, will, or belief to fight for and make the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a reality in the few years I have left turning 70, as a 19-year cancer survivor. Hope remains with our new generations of young people becoming awakened and ""woke"" to fight for, empower themselves with positive energy, commitment, and conviction hearing the cries of despair, seeing, and responding to injustice of the disenfranchised, disempowered, disillusioned and take up the fight to fight of the good fight to create and build a new grassroots people's political revolution. This book shares my past and my present darkness of the light as I continue to write Caline's journey of struggle, sisterhood, and hope in her CALINE Y.A. novel series with book 2, CALINE'S COURAGE, and book 3, CALINE'S CHALLENGE, along with a second more lighthearted Y.A. series, with its first book, OTHERWORLDER. Hopefully, people will always find light within the darkness.
