As a pastor I loved that lives of faith were lived out in the pages of the book. I loved that the believers in it though literary characters were also not wimpy pew sitting whiners complaining about the evil in their world. No not this gang they were seeking evil and bringing the light of God and Justice to the dark and unjust world as they encountered it. better written and edited than most, piece of Steampunk fiction. I enjoyed the literary references that kept popping up The concept for this book is really fantastic. Take League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and pull in some lesser known characters from literature, add a faith element mixed in throughout and you come up with A Dodge, A Twist, and A Tobacconist. The opening chapter introduces the POV character, Prince Florizel of Bohemia, from Stevenson's Suidice Club. The beginning sets the stage for a gripping adventure. The author skillfully develops the character and the reason for Florizel ending up in London. It really had me chomping at the bit for a rollicking steampunk adventure tale. good story. and not the teenie bopper lite that is popular today. more in the style of Vern or Boroughs. has more ( class?) to the writing does not feel like you picked up your kids book. Author InformationSophronia Belle Lyon drinks tea, creates mechanicals, shoot when she can, travels widely, and writes Steam Pulp Literary Tributes. A certain mysterious man with fabulous shoulders is the genius who inspires her never say die heroes and eccentric inventors. She was a Cauldron Spirit in 4th Grade and has taken apart her share of clocks. Airships carried her to Italy by way of Iceland and Luxembourg. She was privileged to miss the Swiss Alps due to the misfortune of steaming through them at midnight in pitch darkness. Characters made the leap from classic 1800s novels to band together against human trafficking and the rise of a slave empire. Implacable villains mean to turn the social order on its ear, creating a web of deceit, domination, and debauchery. These adventurers combine steam and gear technology with families, friendship, faith, and fortitude. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
