This book is designed to highlight the failings of higher education leadership in the contemporary academic environment. The contention is made that the male dominated leadership throughout higher education as an institution is essentially failing its constituents in the communities that higher education is supposed to serve. The reasons for this failure relates to the mid-life or later-in-life crises that males experience as their testosterone levels drop and they must face their increasing age and the aging of their spouses. The crises that erupt tend to have a highly negative effect on their ability to lead and inspire others and in the higher education marketplace this type of failure can severely damage the organization.
