Author Information

Lee McGowan is currently a Senior Lecturer in European Studies at the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy, Queen’s University Belfast, where his teaching and research interests centre on three strands. These are: politics and policy-making in the European Union, and particularly the role of the European Commission as a quasi-judicial actor in the area of competition policy; the EU dimension of the devolution arrangements in Northern Ireland; and political extremism in Germany. David Phinnemore is at present Senior Lecturer in European Integration at the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy, Queen’s University Belfast, where he teaches courses on contemporary Europe, EU institutions, the enlargement of the EU, and EU external relations.
