Cuneiform Luvian was a language spoken in the second millennium B.C. in ancient Anatolia, or what is now Turkey. It is preserved in documents written in cuneiform script that are important for our knowledge of language, religion, and culture during the Hittite Empire. A Dictionary of Cuneiform Luvian offers the most up-to-date synthesis of scholarly research on this language's vocabulary, our understanding of which has substantially expanded in recent decades. Author Information

H. Craig Melchert is Professor of Linguistics Emeritus at UCLA and a renowned specialist in the Indo-European languages of ancient Anatolia. Among his many other publications are A Dictionary of the Lycian Language (2004) and the co-edited volume Munus Amicitiae (2014) in honor of Norbert Oettinger, both also published by Beech Stave Press. The author currently resides in Carrboro, North Carolina.
