Overview

No parent should lose their child, but on the night of May 21st, 2012, Kimberly Worthington Farmer experienced every parent's worst nightmare when she learned that her nineteen-year-old son, Travis, had been in a fatal car accident. From that night on, Kim and her family are forced to navigate an unchartered path without Travis. A Decade Lost is filled with moments of heartache and hope as Kim reflects on a decade marked by loss, longing, and unwavering love. While Kim and her family encounter immense grief, reminders of Travis' vibrant soul echo in their daily lives, bringing them laughter and comfort. With grace, raw honesty, and humor, Kim offers hope to others who feel lost in their grief and invites readers to honor her son's witty, kindhearted spirit as she and her family keep Travis' legacy alive.

Author Information

"My name is Kimberly Worthington Farmer, and I live in Disputanta, Virginia. I am originally from Oklahoma. That is where the majority of my family is, and where I consider home. I have a loving husband of twenty-one years, Scott, and two wonderful children, Austyn, who is twenty, and Brian, who is eighteen, whom Travis loved so much, and they loved him back. The last twelve years without my son, Travis, have been challenging, and without the support of my mom Charlie King, sister, Sharra McKesson, and father Brant Worthington, and stepmom, Carole Worthington, this journey would not have been impossible. We, as a family have survived, and, as a mother, I have survived the unimaginable-the loss of a child. I hope this book helps mothers, friends of mothers, and anyone else who has suffered a tragic loss. That is my purpose and why I wrote this book. Kimberly Worthington Farmer said, ""I would like to thank my niece Brooke McKesson for the absolute fabulous book cover design and illustration. When I asked her if she would design the cover for my book, she was humbled. She was afraid that she would not be able to come up with a cover that captured ""the essence"" of who Travis was. I had complete faith in her because she knew him, she knew how special he was, she knew his humor, his personality, she knew what he loved, and she knows what signs are important to me-rainbows, cardinals. She knows what was important to him, shoes, surfing, the beach, catching waves. I have poured my heart and soul into this book, and my niece captured the true essence of Travis Brantley Worthington, her cousin, my son, in this amazing book cover."""
