Overview

Poetry as a separate word was unnecessary for Mary. Having composed her thoughts and observations since childhood, poetry soon became what she did, who she was, and how she lived. Her father and teachers saw this, as have so many readers (including her husband and daughters), sooner or later, ever since. In this collection of her work, you'll sense Mary's love for the beauty of the seasons and for the work of artists and poets whom she admired. She shares her faith and doubts in our earth and the people she loved. Mary was devoted to her own as well as to all others' families. She acknowledged the good in raising children to be creative, productive, and moral citizens. But she also believed in raising them to be our friends. In her mind, humanity's truest expression of unconditional love is the love of children for their parents.
