Axel the Ant is sure to delight and excite the imagination of kids 3-6 years with its vibrant island-inspired images and compelling story. The illustrations in this book are excellent and the storyline is wonderful to help young readers see how a day and schedule are planned out and how friends can share. The facts about Barbados at the end are great and to see how they are incorporated into the storyline is amazing. I can just hear my Dad reading this to the kids in his Bajan accent. The diction and vernacular are spot on, the story charming and it holds the attention of the children. A great book in my opinion. I used this book in my reading club with the 3-6 age group after having some difficulty keeping their attention with the traditional fairy tale stories. They loved it!! After the first couple pages they were fully engrossed and captivated by the colourful pictures. I really enjoyed every bit of this book. I bought the book initially with the idea of reading it with my 3 goddaughters, but reading it prior to that, I found out I enjoyed it myself! Good job! Very well written for the target audience. My toddler daughter absolutely loves it and I also enjoy reading it to her. Author InformationTab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
