His research areas include medieval historiography, memory culture and economic history. He has published various books and articles on medieval strategies of memory and forgetting (Damnatio in memoria, 2014; Damnatio memoriae, 2020). He currently works on cultural inflation and imitation in the Middle Ages (Nachahmen im Mittelalter, 2018) as well as medieval patterns to deal with cultural degeneration (Exzerpieren – Kompilieren – Tradieren, 2017).
