OverviewThis study focuses on the extent to Which the South African National Curriculum Statement Professional Development Orientation program for educators Achieved its intended outcomes. The study follows on Whether evaluative analysis of a professional development programs initiated by the RSA Education to orientate a large number of its teacher population in the new curriculum succeeded or not . The participants in this study were intermediate Phase (Grade 4-6) educators who were trained by Departmental officials in the implementation of the new curriculum . The study revealed that the program Achieved goals but educators were seldom Implement what they have learned. Educators seem to rely heavily on the support of the subject advisors in all of what they do. The study Indicate the challenges that educators experience when their training context is far different from their school context . The schools Do not have visited the kind of resources used during training and capacity to support teaching and learning. Educators end up resorting to doing what they can instead of what they should do as required by the policy .
