Reviews

Have you ever wondered what it was really like back in the days when cowboys were known for their hard work ethics, their compassion for people, always offering to help their neighbors or someone down on their luck. They had scrupulous manners, such as, yes ma-am and yes sir, took their hat off when introduced to a lady or when entering a building. Generally, most went to church and followed the Bible as closely as they could. You're about to meet that cowboy and pastor. He is going to take you on a journey that will hold you riveted to the last page. Mark Haywood is an accomplished author, having written many books about the life of the everyday cowboy going about his life. The old ways, being much simpler and not so chaotic. Each book has become a testament to how cowboys shaped our lives and our country. We learn how those hard-working men invented the word integrity, and the shake of a hand was their word. They brought to life many of the Biblical lessons and commandments to be learned, then put into everyday lifestyle. They learned faith was built on living a life, centered in and around God's word. Mark was that cowboy and pastor. Living on a horse and prayer. His stories are intertwined with his life and the life of so many he lived around on a daily basis, capturing the essence of the true cowboy and his love of God. Mark understands what cowboy life was like, and how living by the word of God, brought so many answers to questions and problems. How life was so simple and laid back. Faith got them through the rough times and gave peace and joy to the good times. Everyone was friendly to everyone, and everyone loved everyone. Sometimes it is calming and reflective to take a nostalgic walk down the times when life was not so complicated and chaotic. This book will bring peace to the soul and bring love in your heart. It may even give you a desire to adapt to the cowboy way of life instead of the fast paced, overrun, out of control world we live in now. Sit back and enjoy! You won't be disappointed! -Mr. & Mrs. Bob and Jackie Edwards

Author Information

REV. MARK A. HAYWOOD finished his undergraduate studies at Columbia Bible University and his graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Following his formal education, Pastor Mark pastored in traditional churches until the Lord led him to the cowboy church association. It was here that God showed him a unique way of encouraging folks while at the same time teaching biblical principles. Pastor Mark does this by sharing true stories of the modern cowboy life; many involving his deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Pastor Mark brings the Bible alive in each devotional tale about the modern cowboys holding onto their faith and traditions. If you will take Pastor Mark's challenge and read a devotional a day, he believes you will smile a lot more while being drawn closer to our Lord. From childhood, my father and I shared a passion for Western and Native America history, art, and culture. I had the desire to learn more, even before I discovered my own lineage. Dad introduced me to the West in so many ways, including the Cowboy Hall of Fame, museums, ruins, historical sites, and galleries. After viewing Remington and Russell, the quintessential western artists, up close, I was hopelessly hooked.I have no formal training, but instead was blessed with God-given talent, that constantly pushes the limits of my skills and challenges me to create images that move me most: the beautiful water birds of my Southern roots, historical images of warrior chiefs, and North American wildlife. And simple everyday worn western gear. These subjects feed my desire to show my own personal interpretation of Wild America, past and present.Being a realist is easy, for detail is my gift, my labor of love. And I am so grateful for what God has given me
