OverviewThis study aims to determine the relationship between the earliest Christian churches in Argyll and the Neolithic and Iron Age sacred landscapes which preceeded them. The author argues that Christianity should be seen as developing along local and territorial lines rather than as the result of federated monastic foundations on a non-geographical basis. This approach sees the early church as organising itself along local lines and associating itself with pre-existing notions of ritual and power in the landscape.
