Author Information

"About the Author The author spent 25 years in the construction industry before returning to complete a Bachelor's Degree. After spending his first two years preparing for a teaching degree at the university's College of Education, he found an interest in the Environmental Studies program. During his time in undergraduate school, he developed training techniques while serving as a tutor to hundreds of his fellow college students. He also served an internship with the Department of Public Works in the environmental educator's office. Before graduating with honors from Winthrop University, the author served as president of a local chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. He concluded his time at the university by using his talents to develop his honors thesis in energy management and conservation. During the summers, the author participated in the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program which provided him the opportunity and training to conduct independent research. After presenting his own original research at several conferences, he applied to several graduate programs. The author was accepted into the School of Natural Resources and Environment on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. He was offered his choice of Master's programs and chose to pursue the M.S.S. in Sustainable Systems where he now attends. The author is currently serving as lead consultant for an energy management consulting firm in Houston, Texas. Part of the author's responsibilities includes conducting energy assessments and writing reports on energy efficiency trends and techniques. During his research of the LEED program, he participated in and passed the exam. He studied for less than a week and finished the exam in less than 1 hour. The author used the same study habits and training techniques for LEED that he had used throughout his higher education. He has infused those skills and techniques into this text knowing that each LEED candidate has a finite amount of time, money, and energy to pursue their own goal of passing the LEED exam. ""The favor of fortune is reserved for the prepared""....... (Pasteur n.d.)"
