OverviewColitis is an inflammatory disease of the colon. It may be an acute and self-limited condition, or a long-term condition. Colitis can be of various kinds such as ulcerative colitis, lymphocytic colitis, collagenous colitis, ischemic colitis, etc. The symptoms of colitis depend on the underlying cause of the disease, its stage and severity.
