OverviewA Chest of Prose and Poems is not just a collection-it's a lifelong unfolding. Spanning nearly thirty years, this intimate gathering of reflections explores the full spectrum of the human experience: death and dying, the search for meaning, questions that keep us awake at night, the weight of culture, the ache of poverty and hunger, and the enduring power of love. Each piece carries the fingerprints of time-written thoughtfully and intentionally by Orlene, beginning in her high school years and continuing through the present day. What makes this collection special is its honesty. These are not rushed thoughts or fleeting emotions; they are carefully crafted expressions shaped by lived experience, growth, and resilience. You can feel the evolution in the voice-from youthful curiosity to seasoned reflection-yet the heart remains constant throughout. A Chest of Prose and Poems invites readers to sit with life's hardest questions and its most beautiful answers. It is tender, questioning, vulnerable, and hopeful all at once-a reminder that our words, like our lives, are layered stories still being written.
