There's so much to enjoy and admire in A Change Is Gonna Come. The book introduces new BAME talent as well as offering short stories by more established novelists, with Ayisha Malik and Irfan Master both featuring in addition to those I've mentioned. This is an excellent collection of topical, emotive, eye-opening fiction; it's educational without being didactic, and it's exactly the kind of writing that will help to create a better and more more open-minded world. -- Katy Goodwin-Bates * Wilde on my Side * I loved this, especially Catherine Johnson's piece and Tanya Byrne's. Although the anthology features a host of already established BAME authors, it was my first time reading anything by the majority of its contributors. I particularly enjoyed reading the short stories from the four new voices; Aisha Bushby, Phoebe Roy, Mary Bello and Yasmin Rahman. The combined talent is outstanding. The anthology is made up of short stories that each respond to the theme of change, as well as two poems that are placed at the beginning and the end. I was amongst many at the beginning of the year who were bemoaning the lack of authors of colour being published here in the UK. More so needs to be done but I really applaud Stripes Publishing for championing this book and giving these established authors as well as a new crop of young, unpublished authors this platform.
