A Celebration of Dr. David B. Axelrod

Overview

David Axelrod is a poet who engages in an accountancy of the spirit, an inventory of life that is both contemplative and somewhat kaleidoscopic -- okay with the shifting shape of perception inherent in a man with a winning capacity to muse and muse well... George Wallace, first poet laureate of Suffolk County. I met David in the 90's when he represented a Zen Muse to me. His calm energy provided a perfect platform for creative inspiration. I worked with him. I read with him. I learned from him... Robert Savino, Suffolk County Poet Laureate 2015-2017 ...I called each day that week, ...hoping he might hear./""David, I'm calling to wish you well, to thank you.""/Our paths had intersected, reciting poetry over the years, / each of us advocates of healing in our own manner... Dr. Richard Bronson, Suffolk County Poet Laureate 2021-2023 I came to know David Axelrod back in the early 70's as a student at Suffolk Community College... I would see him some afternoons holding poetry sessions with his class in the Humanities building lounge, sitting in an informal group, clad in 70s army surplus attire. Even though I never shared a classroom with David, poet-soldier, we intersected in our creative paths over the many years... Mindy Kronenberg, Literature Ambassador for the L. I. Poetry & Literature Repository I came to meet David Axelrod through Jeanne Vogue. David and I passed a note to each other during an event; Jeanne had passed away. He comforted me and wrote on the note: ""Jeanne was one of my closest friends. We wrote poems together, yes, feel warm-I, we all, loved Jeanne."" Kathryn Marie Fazio, former poet laureate of The College of Staten Island I would not have become a writer if it had not been for David. Through his Writers Ink Press he published three of my poetry books. He took great care with my books and the books he published for others... Adam D. Fisher, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Isaiah in Stony Brook, NY.
