Darlene Cates was an American actress best known for her starring role in the 1993 film, What's Eating Gilbert Grape , in which she played the title character's housebound mother. The film also starred Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Lewis, and Mary Steenburgen. The author discusses the ups and downs in which he was not only a very dear friend of hers but later was her live-in caregiver and personal assistant. It depicts mainly the time period of August 2013 to August 2014 in which proved to be rewarding and yet extremely difficult.
