A Ballroom Dance Instructor: How To Find a Good One, How To Be a Great One

Overview

This book uncovers the mystery of getting started as a dance student or as a potential teacher. It goes step-by-step (pardon the pun), into everything about the process of signing up for lessons, surviving your first few visits, and even what to expect when it comes time for the 'big sell'. Then there's a section for those who are thinking they have what it takes to be a dance teacher. Details about getting trained, building up a student base, and even approaching the boss about going out on your own. Fantastic read! Very informative, even some humor thrown in.

Author Information

Jim Williamson was one of the biggest geeks in high school. He couldn't dance to save his life, but then out of desperation he answered an ad in the paper for Dance instructor trainee, get paid while you train . He has never looked back since. His style of teaching is fun and relaxed, with a little humor sprinkled in since, let's face it, learning to dance is a comical experience. He has been teaching ballroom dancing since 1986. He has placed in the top two at the Gator Classic Dancesport Championship, the Costa Rican National Dancesport Championship, the Sunshine State Dancesport Championship, and the Millennium National Dancesport Championship with students in all levels. He was trained by: Patrick Johnson (Ten-Dance World Champion), Sergio Moya (Top International competitor), Michael Richenbach (Retired Regional Director and owner of Arthur Murray Studio, Ft. Myers, FL), and David Hamilton (Theatre Arts World Champion).
