He's the coscreenwriter of Glorious, a 2022 Lovecraftian horror film starring Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and the Academy Award winning J. K. Simmons (Whiplash). He is a past winner of the Edward Johnson-Ott Hoosier Award for his contributions to Indiana film by the Indiana Film Journalists Association. His debut novella Mouth was published by Tenebrous Press in March 2024. 8114 is his debut novel. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, award-winning narrator Joe Hempel, a total eighties' kid, had a fascination with an eclectic array of shows that would later shape his performances in the audiobook world. For over a decade Joe honed his acting skills as a referee in WWE's Developmental professional wresting schools. Combined with his animated personality and a love for reading, becoming an audiobook narrator was a natural step.
