OverviewThe Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz was opened in 1966 as a university for social and economic sciences. It emerged as a new style university and grew rapidly. After it initially consisted of only one faculty for social, economic and legal sciences, studies at the technical and natural sciences faculty were soon started. The establishment of its own law faculty and, most recently, a medical faculty followed. The richly illustrated book deals with the history of the first campus university in Austria - from the efforts going back to the 16th century to establish a higher school in Linz to the development process after 1945 to the development into the present.
