Author Information

Deborah A Shearer, M.S., is a native Texan living in Houston. She is a former elementary science teacher in Friendswood, Texas. She became the first teacher intern in the Astronaut Office at the NASA Johnson Space Center. There, she developed curriculum related to Space Shuttle missions and evaluated NASA educational materials. After leaving NASA, Shearer became an assistant principal and later a principal in the La Porte, Texas schools, a position she held for 10 years. She has written trade books for schools, and is also a curriculum developer and a professional development trainer. Gregory Vogt has written many books about Earth, space, and space exploration, including several for children and young adults.
