Author Information

Brian D. Heckert, CLU, ChFC, AIF, of Nashville, Illinois, is president of Financial Solutions Midwest LLC, an independent financial services practice. Through his unique service called 401(K)nowhow(TM), he meets one-on-one with employees who work for the corporate clients who participate in his 401(k) plans to ensure that every employee is getting the optimum benefit from his or her 401(k) plan. In 2015, he served as president of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Executive Committee. He has consistently qualified for the highest levels of membership based on professionalism, dedication to ethical service, and volume of service his firm provides to its clientele. Brian's Round Table volunteerism includes speaking at the MDRT Annual Meeting and MDRT Experience meeting, as well as service on multiple MDRT committees and task forces. Highlighted leadership roles include three years of service on the MDRT Foundation Board of Trustees and three appointments as Divisional Vice President: Membership and Leadership (2012), Annual Meeting Program Development Committee (2010), and Annual Meeting Program General Arrangements (2000). He is a frequent industry speaker and has been quoted in numerous business, industry, and association publications. Brian began working with 401(k) plans when he was twenty-one years old, in 1985. In 1998, he purchased a share in the company he had been working with for fourteen years. In 2001, he purchased the entire company. He began running the administration company on his own in 2001. At one time, his company serviced about 260 plans throughout the United States. He had approximately eight thousand employees covered under those plans, which totaled $350 million in assets. In 2012, he sold the administration company, but he still maintains a relationship with about forty companies that have retirement plans. Today, his focus is on spending quality time with each of the 401(k) plan participants instead of working with employers on administration issues. He spends most of his time on plan design and employee education. Brian works with six team members in three office locations: Nashville, Illinois; Carlinville, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; and Janesville, Wisconsin.
