She has a PhD in Physics and worked for a number of years at universities across the UK. In 2008 she developed severe ME/CFS which has left her mostly housebound, forcing her to leave her job. Although her health has not improved she gained an MSc in E-learning from the University of Edinburgh and now works 5 hours per week from home, doing education research. A few years ago she discovered the joy of watching birds in her garden and in 2020 she began to photograph them whenever she was well enough. She loves to share her photos with others.
