刘菲，上海出生，高中毕业后务农务工十年。1978年考入上海华东师范大学中文系，毕业后曾在上海交通大学文学院任教。1989赴美留学，获教育硕士，在弗吉尼亚州和伊利诺州任职。现退休定居华盛顿州。曾在华师大报刊发表诗歌散文；在《上海文学》发表随笔若干，作品被收入多本文集。 现任美国西北华文笔会编辑，美国中文作家协会会员。
