20th century Royston - the second 50 years

Overview

In 1993 Mr. Frederic Sillence published the wonderful book entitled '20th Century Royston Volume 1: The First Fifty Years'. From his central position as long time editor of 'The Crow' and popular Royston character in church and social life, he was in a prime position to recount the memories and associate them with world events. In 2013 Chris Goddard instigated what is known as a Facebook Group. He invited a couple of dozen of us to join him. We all posted photos and anecdotes from our past, amidst much hilarity and enjoyment. It was eventually suggested that the memories thus accumulated in cyberspace should be committed to paper as 'Volume 2: The Second Fifty Years'. It will be impossible to emulate the depth of knowledge that Fred, from his unique position, possessed. This book is not a definitive history of Royston but memories that have been researched. The photos are mostly from family albums and as such sometimes lower in quality than professional photographs.
