As the CEO of the company he founded, he held a top-secret security clearance with the Government of Canada. He retired in 2006 to become the mayor of Ottawa. He borrowed from his business, political, and technological expertise to write his first novel, 2028: Tomorrow is the Day, which explores Artificial Intelligence and its effects on society.
