OverviewOn January 22, 1813, the ""Society of Friends of Music in Vienna"" was founded, from whose ""Conservatorium"" opened in 1817, today's University of Music and Performing Arts emerged. In addition to novelties, ""official"" premieres were increasingly performed in the 20th century and especially in the past 30 years. A symposium organized by the Institute for Musical Style Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in cooperation with the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in June 2012 took a look at these world premieres and their respective musical and social environment are gathered in this volume.
