All designs included in the book can be completed using one or more of these seven stitches, though most use a combination of three or four. Author Gula, maker of bespoke and original embroidered art, encourages readers to practice until they are satisfied with the quality of their stitches and to change stitch types and colors to suit their own tastes. Each design includes a transferable pattern outline with stitch and color keys (using DMC embroidery floss color numbers), a color photo of the finished embroidery, and a paragraph describing basic details about the plant and its characteristics. In addition, instructions are provided for using these patterns to embellish 10 existing items, such as a tea towel, tote bag, and shirt collar.
