Author Information

Van Jordahl is a Minnesota native with a Masters of Science degree from Bemidji State University and a Sixth Year degree from Mankato State University, both in Educational Administration. He is a retired Minnesota elementary school principal. He has had a lifetime love of fishing and exploring the BWCA and the Superior National Forest. He has planned and guided trips to the BWCA for youth groups, friends and family members for over 30 years. Van is a member of Friends of The Boundary Waters and the Superior Hiking Trail Association. Gerald Strom is a Minnesota native. He attended Hamline University before earning a Ph.D at the University of Illinois in Urbana. He then spent 34 years as a professor of political science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During his teaching career, he would always find time in the summer to explore and fish in The Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Superior National Forest. In addition to his professional writing, he has written articles for many different publications, including ""The New York Times"" and ""Boundary Waters Journal.""
