OverviewThe Belgian priest Peter Joseph Triest (1760-1836) was an inspired man who completely devoted his life to the care of the poor and the sick. He followed in the footsteps of his example, Saint Vincent de Paul. To serve with respect and love became the adage of his life. He founded four congregations for the purpose of caring for the poor and the sick. For Father Triest, charity was a triad of love, compassion, and concrete commitment, complemented and completed with professionalism. In Belgium, he was also a pioneer in the humane and professional approach to the care of people with mental illness. His conferences and sermons give us the opportunity to get to know this inspired man, who was moved by God's love and whose whole life was geared toward answering this love in a deep prayer life and radiating this love to the poor and the sick through charity.
