13 Days of Fear

Overview

In most jurisdictions in California, when there is a 9-11 call about domestic violence, someone connected to that call is going to be arrested. Even if no one was hurt. Even if the caller tells the deputy it was a mistake. Because most people in law enforcement apparently think that's the law. It isn't. So innocent people are jailed, and subjected to high bail costs. Families are destroyed. Reputations are ruined. This book recounts the true details of such an arrest, and reflects on what changes are needed to restore justice to our system.
