Igor Pomerantsev enjoys crossing the boundaries of genre. His writing can be described as a poet's prose or a prose writer's poetry. Author Information

Igor Pomerantsev was born in Saratov in 1948 into the family of a military journalist. He grew up in Ukraine and graduated from the English Department of Chernivtsi University. Before emigrating in 1978, he lived in Kyiv and worked as a technical translator. For over forty years, he worked in international broadcasting (BBC, Radio Liberty). He is the author of numerous books of poetry, prose, essays, and radio plays, including On the Beaufort Scale, Red Dry, Official Lyrics, My First Bomb Shelter, Not to Call Things by Their Names, among others. His works have been translated into Ukrainian, Polish, German, Czech, and Latvian. He currently lives in England and the Czech Republic.Игорь Померанцев родился в Саратове в 1948 г. в семье военного журналиста. Вырос в Украине. Окончил английскую кафедру Черновицкого университета. До эмиграции в 1978 г. жил в Киеве, работал техническим переводчиком. Более сорока лет работал в иновещании (Би-би-си, Радио Свобода). Автор многочисленных книг, стихов, прозы, эссеистики, радиопьес, среди них По шкале Бофорта, Красное сухое, Служебная лирика, Моё первое бомбоубежище, Не называть вещи своими менами и др. Его книги издавались в переводе на украинский, польский, немецкий, чешский, латышский языки. В настоящее время живёт в Англии и Чехиии.
