OverviewIn her seventh drama book for teens, Rebecca Young demonstrates her wonderful ability to write in the voice of teenage characters and emphasize believable experiences that appeal to young actors. Boyfriend issues, girlfriend issues. Teacher issues, parent issues. Sports issues, band issues. Love, hate, jealousy, betrayal, and so much more. Middle school years are some of the best and hardest times a student can go through, and Young captures both the drama and especially the humor of this unique age. The book is fairly even divided between monologues for girls, for guys, or for either, and the wide variety of topics ensures a good fit with any student's personality. All monologues are between one and two minutes and are suitable for auditions, classroom performance, speech competitions, or acting practice. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationFor many years, Rebecca Wright wrote and directed drama for middle school and high school students for her church. She co-founded a Christian acting group called One Voice. It was a dream of hers to combine writing, acting, and helping youth. Rebecca currently works in a totally ""non-dramatic"" profession as a Technical Writer. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Marketing from the University of Kentucky. (Don't tell the Wildcats, but she recently became a huge Ohio State University football fan! Go Buckeyes!) In 2013, she married Beau, the love of her life, and relocated to Cincinnati, OH. Though sad to leave behind her Kentucky roots, she loves biking and exploring the downtown Cincinnati area and the Little Miami Scenic Trail. She and her husband love traveling and recently became SCUBA certified which opened up a whole new world to explore! In 2015, Rebecca became ""GiGi"" when she became a grandmother to her first grandchild, Steven: the cutest, smartest, funniest, and most amazing person in the whole wide world.: ) With his big, beautiful smile, it's easy to see that he'll be bringing laughs to all around him! Who knows, maybe he'll even perform one of his GiGi's monologues or plays in future school years! She also treasures her role as Mom to these fantastic kids: Heather, Kristina, Ashley, Jordan, Landen, son-in-love Chris, and daughter-in-love Tabby! (As well as future son-in-love, Kyle!) Whether you are an actor, writer, athlete, or scholar, Rebecca suggests this anonymous quote as a daily mantra: ""You aren't finished when you lose; you are finished when you quit."" Never quit.
