She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, and practiced Obstetrics & Gynecology for several years before taking a second residency in Anatomic Pathology, with fellowships in Gynecological Pathology and in Pediatric Pathology. Dr. Heller is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, in Anatomic Pathology, and in Pediatric Pathology, and serves as the gynecologic and pediatric pathologist for the Department of Laboratory Medicine at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Heller is Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, with a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She is the former Secretary–General of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease, and is actively involved in their Education Committee, organizing and speaking on topics relating to vulvovaginal disease. Research interests include diseases of the vulva, cancers of the female genital tract, and placental pathology relating to poor pregnancy outcome. Lara J. Burrows, MD, MSC, completed her undergraduate work at New York University. She attended Dartmouth Medical School and completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Magee-Womens Hospital and also received a Masters Degree in Clinical Research and Statistical Analysis from theUniversity of Pittsburgh.
