The author of previous Dover publications, he has also illustrated books for the multi-volume Time-Life series on the histories of seafaring, flight, the Second World War, the Third Reich, and the Vietnam experience. A pilot of light aircraft, Mr Batchelor is also a collector of 'proper' jazz, and carries a sketchbook wherever he goes. Apart from drawing, he is happiest driving tanks, flying aircraft, ad going to sea in ships.
