Serious church discipline is unavoidable, if this local church is to keep its standing as one of the Lord's lampstands in the Church.What would you think, should you visit a local church one Sunday morning, and everyone there was making strange noises all at the same time? Most of us would likely head for the hills pronto! Sadly, but that was a problem in the Church of Corinth.Also, they claimed to believe the Gospel, but they didn't believe in a physical, bodily resurrection of the dead. What do they think happened to Jesus on a Sunday morn circa 27 A.D.?And then there was the situation during the celebration of the Lord's Supper... But perhaps I should stop at this point. There are far too many weird doings and cockamamie doctrines going on in the Church of Corinth. Permit me, please, to take the best approach and invite you into our Bible study to discover these situations with us. We plan to delve into them and get to the bottom of it. After all, we wouldn't want to go through the same mess in our church today, would we?The approach for ""1 Corinthians"", and for every volume in the ""Heavenly Citizens"" series, is to teach the student the meaning of Scripture. We also teach him or her how to study the Bible on his/her own. We do this in two ways: we provide a few rules by which to govern our Bible study, and we demonstrate by example how to study the Bible. Experience is an outstanding teacher.
