Since 1988, J.R. Steele has been helping individuals, as well as public and private organizations develop, produce and deliver presentations. She began her journey as a communications specialist in high school competing on a state and nationally recognized Speech and Debate Team. In college, she was contracted as a national speaker by the federal government as part of the Office of Substance Abuse and Prevention (OSAP) National Prevention Implementation Program. She was the National Student Director for Positive Moves where she worked with authors like Peggy Mann and Gabriel Nahas to develop educational programs for high school and college students. During her years with Positive Moves, she was responsible for managing representatives throughout the world conducting various workshops to develop communication skills, improve community networking, and increase leadership abilities. In 1993, she joined the Environmental Training Fund where she managed over twenty regional training centers throughout the country. As a communication consultant she contracts as a lead instructional designer with businesses like American Express and AIMCO. As a business owner, she has served on the board of National Association of Women Business Owners. In 2012, she joined Barry University as an Instructor and Coordinator of Speech Courses. Most recently, she has formed the International Public Speaking Institute whose mission is to help people reach their dreams by reaching their full potential through the lessons learned in speech. Mastering the skill of speaking in public transforms people into becoming better communicators in their everyday life. The Institutes offers the Speech Formula, a well-needed strategic approach to writing a speech.
