Author Information

Álvaro H. Salas is a mathematician at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Sede Manizales). His research lies at the interface of nonlinear dynamics, special functions, and scientific computation, with particular emphasis on Duffing-type oscillators (including polynomial extensions), Helmholtz-Duffing reductions, and fractional-order models formulated with Caputo derivatives. A recurring theme of his work is the construction and verification of explicit and semi-analytical solutions--often expressed in Jacobi and Weierstrass elliptic functions--together with reliable numerical validation protocols for multistable and strongly nonlinear regimes. He has also developed practical approximation and solution-transfer principles that connect different oscillator families, yielding reusable analytical building blocks for applications in mechanics and nonlinear wave/soliton settings. In 2013, he received the Elsevier-Scopus prize in Colombia (""Premio Scopus Colombia"") in recognition of his research production and impact. His broader interests include reproducible computational experimentation and the development of robust benchmarks for assessing analytical approximations in nonlinear models.
