He has worked between Australia and England since 1983, when he was first commissioned by the State Theatre Company of South Australia to write the acclaimed and much performed No Worries for Magpie Theatre which was produced at the 1984 Adelaide Festival. The Small Poppies was commissioned by State Theatre for the 1986 Adelaide Festival. Beauty and the Beast completed his trilogy of plays for the State Theatre Company of South Australia/Magpie Theatre, and was launched at their Bicentennial Adelaide Festival in 1988.
