Overview

This is an inspirational true story of an eighteen-year-old American girl who faced her fears to pursue the dream of a career working with horses. It's the story of how when she heard of the world-famous Porlock Vale Riding School in England, she took the chance and applied to the school-with the goal of becoming a Horsemaster and British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (BHSAI). It's a story of how despite any fears of the unknown or of failure, she traveled to England to try to succeed in their elite program and to fulfill her dream. The story includes the trials that she encountered in their demanding day-to-day schedule, while preparing to pass the difficult formal examinations of an elite English riding school. The author shares highlights and humorous incidents of students, horses and riders, steeplechases, rides on the English moors, and even a haunted mansion. The book also contains information on horse care and stable management, and some of the history of equestrian sports. Applying those skills, she developed her dream of working with horses into a full-time career--from winning show championships to a top breeding program for quality performance horses, to hosting the U.S. West Coast Olympic Screening Trials to watching her own students competing successfully in all areas of hunters, jumpers, and dressage, and then becoming great trainers themselves. Horses that she raised and trained became champions, from coast to coast, and Canada. The author hopes that reading this story will help inspire people of all ages to take their dream of participating in any sport or achieving any goal, and pursue it to the highest level of their abilities.
