A graduate of the High School of Art & Design and the School of Visual Arts (both in Manhattan), Allan's photographs have appeared on the covers and inside spreads of New York Magazine, Life Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Esquire, GQ, Yachting, Boating, Nautical Quarterly, and other national and international publications. Known for his strong compositions and use of color, many of his photographs have won top honors from the New York Art Directors Club, The One Show, the Philadelphia Art Directors Club, Print Publications, the American Institute of Graphis Artists, and Graphis. Allan has written extensively for publications including Popular Photography, American Photographer, Picture Magazine, as well as over 500 product reviews and technical articles for the B&H Photo Explore website.
