Which way is your Christian life going? Every year the Jewish pilgrims would go to Jerusalem to keep the annual feasts. On the way, to help focus their thoughts, they would especially sing psalms 120 - 134, commonly called the Psalm of Ascent. Just as God used these psalms to guide his people on their way to the Temple so today he can use these psalms to effect a change in his church, to bring people into closer relationship with him and produce a radical change in lifestyle on our journey to Heaven. An excellent book! The title is most intriguing in that it captures the words of an old song and applies it to the Jewish people as they made their way up to Jerusalem every year to celebrate the feasts. Psalms 120 to 134 would have been the theme of their praise. These are often referred to as the Psalms of Ascent. Not much has been written on this specific section of Scripture in recent years. This book makes up for that in that it focuses attention on one major issue from every Psalm as inferred by the Psalmist. R T Kendall writes from a pastoral perspective as he tackles many of life's crushing problems and again he puts the main beam back on a sovereign God. This is a highly devotional book and yet one that is not lacking by way of challenge. I warmly recommend it to you. --CRTV
