Evolving to Extinction: An [un]serious Condemnation of our Uniquely Human Behavior

Overview

We're not as great as we think we are... Some humans may claim otherwise, but we are without question a peculiar and at best mediocre species. We do weird things in our world within a world, from our incessant need to keep busy, to the odd ways we feed our population, to our ludicrous waste management behavior. We stand out from the crowd in astonishing ways. Welcome to the most random, seemingly unrefined, borderline irreverent, arguably sensible, and debatably funny critique of human behavior that you'll ever get your hands on. Have a laugh at this silly species of ours as we explore 19 unique behaviors that set us apart from every other creature roaming the earth. Embrace the uncomfortable realization that we're not as great as we think we are... ...and that's okay.

Reviews

""This book provides such a casual way to take a step back and think about our impact on the world in everyday life. I found myself laughing out loud through each chapter, both from Brian's writing style, and also how silly some human normalcies are. I've since felt myself grow wiser into how I perceive the impact of my daily decisions, almost without trying."" - Scott (Los Angeles, CA) ""Brian Webster provides a unique and highly entertaining spin on the human condition. His insights into the absurdities of human nature made me question what I considered normal, and this gem of a read had me laughing out loud!"" - Deborah (Knoxville, TN)

Author Information

Brian Webster is an engineer turned author who recently opted to repurpose his mundane and logic-based skillset toward promoting a simpler, sustainable way of life. His debut work, Evolving to Extinction: An [un]serious condemnation of our uniquely human behavior, is a deliberately crude, uncomfortably honest take on the uniquely human behavior that sets us apart from the natural world. Brian dispenses with formality to deliver an important message with straight talk and unrefined humor, tackling serious topics in a universally appealing manner. His motivation stems from nothing more than a genuine, grave concern for the fate of humanity, and a wish that we could all just laugh at our ridiculous ways as we come to terms with how forcefully we push out of sync with the rest of the planet. Recently stepping out of the realm of public service, Brian continues to serve the public by straightforwardly addressing unpalatable topics that society blithely ignores at its own peril, in the hope of course-correcting our petulant and negligent behavior. When not writing, Brian can be found on his bike, hiking out in the woods, playing his guitar, or getting a solid workout on the tennis court.
