Eric Fein is a freelance author of more than 40 fiction and nonfiction books and graphic novels. His books for Capstone include Impossible Victory: The Battle of Stalingrad, D-Day: The Battle for Normandy, and Weapons, Gear, and Uniforms of World War I. Joseph Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay, India, on December 30, 1865. He is best known for his short story collections The Jungle Book, published in 1894, and Just So Stories, published in 1902. He wrote a variety of other short stories, including 'Kim' and 'The Man Who Would Be King, ' and many poems. In 1907, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature, becoming the first English-language writer and youngest person to win the award. On January 18, 1936, he died in London at age 70. The author of the Amazon best-selling hardcover Batman: A Visual History, Matthew K. Manning has contributed to many comic books, including Beware the Batman, Spider-Man Unlimited, Pirates of the Caribbean: Six Sea Shanties, Justice League Adventures, Looney Tunes, and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? When not writing comics themselves, Manning often authors books about comics, as well as a series of young reader books starring Superman, Batman, and the Flash for Capstone. Since 1986, Martin Powell has been a freelance writer. He has written hundreds of stories, many of which have been published by Disney, Marvel, Tekno comix, Moonstone Books, and others. In 1989, Powell received an Eisner Award nomination for his graphic novel Scarlet in Gaslight. This award is one of the highest comic book honors. Dennis Calero is the award-winning artist of Marvel Comics' X Men Noir, X-Factor as well as previous Stone Arch titles in Frankenstein and the Invisible Man. He was educated at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Carl Bowen's novel, Shadow Squadron: Elite Infantry, earned a starred review from Kirkus. He lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia. As a teenager, Terry Davis was a third-string shooting guard for Spokane's Shadle Park High School junior varsity team. In his junior year, Davis turned to wrestling. He tool to the sport like a bear to a honeycomb and wrestled his remaining high school years. Today, Davis is a father, a writer, and -- in his words -- a fat, old wrestling coach. He also teaches narrative and screenwriting at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
