Overview

Sheaffer Blue can't hold a job, a boyfriend, or her place in line at the liquor store. But she can solve murders. In Blood on a Blue Moon, set in Seattle's houseboat community, Sheaffer-just Blue to her buddies-tackles corrupt politicians, big money, and killers who think nothing of torching an old woman and blowing up her neighbors. In her current job as an insurance investigator, Blue must join forces with David Chen, a high-ranking detective on loan to the Seattle police department. Chen is precise, organized, and diligent-the polar opposite of Blue. Their relationship is icy. But when thrown together in life-threatening danger, things heat up, and sparks fly. Sheaffer Blue is a woman of many careers and many lovers, but the one constant in her life is murder.

Reviews

Sheaffer Blue is a smart, sassy insurance investigator who teams up with Detective David Chen to solve a brutal murder in Seattle's houseboat community. Cleverly balancing humor, romance, and the right amount of thrill, Stone delivers a perfect mystery. You won't be able to put it down. Highly recommended! -Michelle Cox, author of the Henrietta and Inspector Howard series Jessica H. Stone does a superb job of creating a saucy and intelligent amateur sleuth in Sheaffer Blue. You'll fall in love with the rich community of loyal, quirky, and funny friends who help Sheaffer solve a heartless murder and find unexpected romance. A delicious read, I can't wait for the next Sheaffer Blue Mystery. -Amy S. Peele, author of Match: A Medical Murder Mystery What Sheaffer Blue lacks in social skills, she more than makes up for in smarts and sass. -Pamela Beason, author of The Only Witness

Author Information

"Jessica H. Stone is an author, ghost writer, and long-distance sailor. Jessica and her Border Collie, Kip McSnip - the Famous Sailing Dog, sailed together for sixteen years. They cruised the Caribbean, navigated Puget Sound traversed Canada's waters, sailed the Mexican coast, wandered the Sea of Cortez and crossed the Pacific Ocean. Kip celebrated his eighteenth birthday as they crossed the equator for the first time. Their experiences led to the popular book, Doggy on Deck: Life at Sea with a Salty Dog and the long-running syndicated column, Cruising with Critters. Sans her four-legged crew, Jessica sailed the waters of Australia, New Zealand, and the Med. Most recently, while serving as crew on a vessel from Panama to the Honduras, she experienced the terror of being chased by (real life) pirates. Many years of living aboard her 41' sloop provided a solid foundation for her book, How to Retire on a Boat and for her on-line column, At Home on the Boat. Following two decades of teaching marketing and strategic business planning at the University of Washington Jessica turned her focus to full-time writing and consulting. She has served as the ""ghost pen"" for three important memoirs. Jessica is a sought after public speaker and offers presentations on both the sailing and the writing life. Her debut novel, The Last Outrageous Woman, won First Place in The Somerset Award for Women's Literary Fiction. The Chanticleer Reviews - Best Book of 2014. Blood on a Blue Moon won first in category in the 2018 Murder and Mayhem Book Awards-a genre division of the Chanticleer International Book Awards and the 2019 Best Mystery Award from Black Magnolia Books."
