OverviewAre we defined by the things that we imagine, as much as by the things we do? By turns poignant, sinister, hilarious, tragic, these short stories probe that question, dipping into very different private lives and visiting different places. From the Northern Isles to Gascony, river bank to city centre, they show how small things reveal big things. Meet the rational-minded doctor whose son has gone to wage Jihad, the frantic would-be writer in search of a plot, the legatee challenged by an inheritance, the gallery attendant who's learnt a thing or two about art. Two Christmas tales add to the mix. An eye for beauty and an ear for comedy make this a satisfying and varied read Full Product DetailsAuthor: Gill OliverPublisher: Ah But Books Imprint: Ah But Books Dimensions: Width: 12.70cm , Height: 0.70cm , Length: 20.30cm Weight: 0.122kg ISBN: 9780993597626ISBN 10: 0993597629 Pages: 108 Publication Date: 01 December 2016 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In stock We have confirmation that this item is in stock with the supplier. Each one different but all of them extremely enjoyable, thought provoking and so well written. Author InformationGill Oliver was born in Liverpool and grew up with the belief that you could laugh at just about anything, provided you started with yourself. Her earliest attempts at fiction were bedtime stories for her brothers and sister, which carried on long after they'd fallen asleep. Over a career in education she worked in the Midlands, Essex and Dorset in a variety of roles, publishing teaching materials along the way. A keen choral singer, she now lives in Somerset and concentrates on writing fiction. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
