Overview

br> Shot to death. So starts my novel. This is a fictional story of Jimmy Goldberg, a.k.a.... Jimmy Smith, who grew up in the violent streets of East New York, Brooklyn in the 1950's, where Murder, Inc. flourished and remnants of the crime syndicate showed their daily presence. We follow Jimmy Smith's progression from petty street crime, accessory to murder, and involvement in prostitution. Becoming more involved with the crime bosses, he is forced into a situation from which he cannot seemingly escape. Jimmy must balance his love for his family with the life of crime he is living. These acts destroy his marriage and he must reconsider his goals and direction. Jimmy must ultimately choose between his family and his murderous associates. Can his brother-in-law, a Captain in the Vice Squad, provide an opportunity to salvage the remnants of a life hitting bottom? With a mob contract on his head, Jimmy opts for one desperate, final plan. With terse dialogue and unforgettable characters, this coming of age story will keep the reader riveted, awaiting the final surprise ending. All readers addicted to crime adventures will be a ready buyer of this novel. Bob Freeman was born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Lowell and a master's degree in marketing from New York University. When he is not playing competitive tennis, or teaching adult writing classes, he continues to submit articles and short stories to national magazines. His co-authored novel, Kid Twist, is the story of Abe Reles, head of Murder Inc., and was published in 2004. He has completed three other adult novels based on crime and romance. He was awarded a special prize for his unique, aggressive dialogue by a literary agency. After working 35 years as a research chemist and sales manager, he is retired and lives with his wife and sometimes collaborator of 55 years, Rosalie, in Boynton Beach, Florida. They have three sons and ten grandchildren.
