Winds of Fedon is a most captivating story of a drama of global proportion that unfolded on the tiny island of Grenada in 1795. The most appealing aspect, for me, has to do with its ability to elicit a whole range of emotions --- it is that arousing, even to the point of titillation. I felt as though Campbell had set out to plumb the depths of a most imperfect human condition in the context of a brutal system, and in so doing unearths insights that we do not ordinarily give interest to from our current vantage point. For that, I am most grateful. It is nothing short of masterful writing. It is a work of great beauty. Yao Atunwa Excellent character development. The story unfolded like a Greek tragedy. I stayed up way too late tonight's in a row to finish this book, I had a hard time putting it down. I can't wait to read Dunbar Campbells other books. Tim Hasset I am reading this with relish. Wonderful exposition, vivid description. This is great historical fiction. I am sure I'm in for the whole series. AND, I get to learn about our interconnected history from a unique geographical paradise. I'm a contented reader right now. Keith Rose This storyline about slavery and colonialism was riveting and a page turner! Mr. Campbell's words paint a vivid picture of unimaginable suffering, despair, cruelty and death. But, he also interweaves a seemingly doomed love story throughout, that gives the reader hope. Can such a love story between a British solder and mulatto girl during colonization and slavery survive hatred and racism? Did it? Long after the final word is read and the last page is turned; I find myself reliving Winds of Fedon. The images of destruction, human suffering and madness, tinged with the scents of human despair and rot, so prolifically described through these pages, linger long after! M Steele Author InformationDunbar Campbell grew up in Grenada before enlisting in the U.S. Marines. He has spent the past twenty years as a researcher and writer. This is his third novel.
