OverviewBy Albert Bruce Pruitt, published 2012, reprinted 2026, 198 pages, index, soft cover, ISBN #978-0-94499-773-1. Wilkes County was created in 1778 from Surry County and Washington District. This book contains abstracts of loose papers in North Carolina Supreme Court Cases 299-299F which concerns two tracts of land in Wilkes, County. The reader will notice that some people obtained grants, lived on the land a few years, and then sold it; others rented the land. Some owners knew of the Moravian claim to the land, and others learned of the Moravian claim soon after they arrived. They may or may not have told s prospective buyer or renter of the Moravian claim. There were difficulties in these cases determining the defendants because the people who lived on the land constantly changed. The index mentions approximately 1,000 persons.
